About Oxford Town Hall
This gorgeous venue was opened by the Prince of Wales in 1897 and is Grade II listed. Home to the Museum of Oxford and the seat of Oxford City Council, Oxford Town Hall offers a flexible space for weddings and events. There are five different rooms available for exclusive use, all of which feature original Victorian features. The venue is in an ideal location, close to major bus routes and just a short walk from Oxford station.
Ceremony Spaces
At Oxford Town Hall, you can choose to hold your wedding in one of five beautiful spaces, each with its own character, history, and charm, ensuring the perfect setting for your dream day.
The Main Hall
The Main Hall is the star attraction, and it's truly remarkable. With a beautiful ceiling and elegant balconies, it can host up to 300 guests for your wedding breakfast. The large dance floor provides space for up to 500 people to dance the night away. Some famous stars, such as the Rolling Stones and David Bowie, have performed on this stage, and it is also where Nelson Mandela received the Freedom of the City Award. This truly is a unique and breathtaking venue for your wedding.
The Assembly Room
Once known as the Banqueting Hall, this space features a magnificent timber ceiling, a large fireplace and grand oil paintings to create the perfect backdrop. It's perfect for ceremonies and receptions, and is conveniently connected to the Old Library for dining and dancing. It can accommodate up to 120 seated guests and host up to 200 for celebrations. With its high ceilings, chandeliers, and tall windows, it's a bright and romantic setting.
The Old Library
Next to the Assembly Room, the Old Library features walls with American walnut panelling and a high timber ceiling. Its an inviting and intimate that space can accommodate up to 60 people for your wedding breakfast and up to 100 guests for a reception, while stained-glass windows flood the space with natural light, perfect for photography.
St. Aldate's Room
The St. Aldate's Room is ideal for ceremonies or receptions of up to 40 guests. Featuring a striking ceiling, a stained-glass window, and a carved fireplace, it's the smallest licensed room in the Oxfordshire venue, and the perfect place to exchange your vows before celebrating in the Old Library or Assembly Room.
The Court Room
If you're looking for a more unique setting for your wedding, The Court Room is an ideal choice. With its original dock leading to old police cells, this remarkable space has hosted real court sessions and been featured in film and TV. It can accommodate up to 43 guests on its fixed bench seating, with space for a further 50 on the balcony.
