For most wanting a Peru honeymoon, the draw of the country is exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu and navigating the waters of Lake Titicaca. But Peru also boasts fine beaches, quaint fishing villages, epic hiking and walking trails, and the chance to experience a real Amazonian adventure.

While the flight time to get to Peru is not to be sniffed at, once you step off the plane you will instantly know you've made the right decision to honeymoon here. It is a country with a vibrant history, vibrant present and vibrant future, and that's not even touching on the incredible food or jungle at its disposal. Machu Picchu may take all the headlines, but aligned with this Wonder of the World there is so much to enjoy in this beautiful country.

About the activities:

The Amazon rainforest facilitates a great deal of activities for adrenaline-junkies, think trekking, rafting, paragliding, bike trails and zip lines to name a few. But aside from that, Cusco offers a wealth of culinary and cultural hubs to explore, whilst the general sense of adventure permeates all walks of life here. This is a country that has seen the rise and fall of so many different civilisations, just walking down a street and soaking up the atmosphere and humdrum of life will have you spellbound.

About the climate:

May - October: Peru is a brilliant honeymoon destination for a couple looking for culture and activities. With temperatures during May, June, July, August, September and October ranging anywhere between 20 degrees to 30 degrees, there’s no better time to visit this beautiful destination.

About the culture:

Peru has been home to many indigenous people for thousands of years. The pulsing and rich history is explicitly evident at any one of the incredible festivals where deities are reincarnated as Christian saints and noisy brass bands play out all the way down the historic streets. Cultural highlights include the Kuelap fortress, the Nazca Lines and the ancient archaeological site of Chan Chan. The museums are excellent and the people are warm and welcoming. Peru may be an unusual choice for a honeymoon, but that's part of its appeal - it's something different in a special country in the heart of Latin America.

What we love:

The food. Peru is arguably the culinary hub of Latin America and the ceviche, slow-cooked stews, beef skewers and velvety chocolate will have you begging to return as soon as possible.
