Once there was a time when invites were the only protocol for weddings, but now with people's lives being chock full of busy days, you have to give your guests as much warning as possible to make sure they book your wedding day into their diaries. That's where save the dates come in! A simple card with your wedding date on would suffice, but why not take the opportunity to tease your guests with a hint of what to expect on the day.Â

Engagement Photos
Photographers will often offer you an engagement shoot with your wedding photography package, giving you a chance to get to know your photographer and get some pretty photos of the two of you. Why not make use of them and turn them into save the date cards? They don't all have to be hugs and kisses - be yourselves and add your personality to it.

The Photo-booth
A picture of the happy couple really is a brilliant idea - take some silly snapshots in a photo-booth for a simple save the date.

Magnets
Give those save the dates pride of place on the fridge and turn them into a magnet. Your guests certainly won't forget about the date any time soon, plus it's a great chance to personalise the style. You could go with something like the cute couple snapshots above, but we love these comic book magnets. If you're going for a rustic theme, wooden hearts are the perfect choice to tie them in to your style.

Games
Make your guests work for it with something a little unique. Get them blowing up balloons or solving a mystery code to find out your wedding date.

A Sweet SurpriseÂ
Give your guests a sweet treat in the form of this edible save the date- just remember to accompany your biscuit with a tag or a little card in case they munch it before writing it down!Â

Theme it
Perhaps you're lovers of a certain film, or you met over a coffee whilst waiting for your delayed train? The more personal the better.
