About Abbey House Hotel
Abbey House Hotel & Gardens in Cumbria arranges weddings in a variety of settings drawn from its own grounds and suites. Couples can choose a ceremony in one of the hotel’s wedding suites, in the recently designed Wedding Garden set within its grounds, or at a local church arranged by the team.
The estate extends across 14 acres of woodland and gardens, and during the day a venue-specific feature, “Herbie”, a traditional wedding buggy, is available to transport the couple and guests around the grounds for photography opportunities. The planning team works with each couple to set up the ceremony and coordinate the sequence of events. The Wedding Garden offers an outdoor space designed for ceremonies in the grounds. Inside, the hotel’s suites may be used for parts of the celebration. The team handles arrangements with local providers and external locations such as nearby churches to meet different preferences for the ceremony setting. Throughout the day, the gardens and woodland provide a backdrop for photographs and movement between locations within the estate. Couples can discuss their ideas with the team to shape how spaces and transport around the grounds are used on their wedding day.
