About Harefield Barn
Harefield Barn is close to Exeter, but a world away, our family run wedding barn sits in its elevated position with huge windows flooding the building with light and providing fabulous views over Devon’s rolling hills. We have wildflower meadows, orchards, cornfields and staggering views almost everywhere you look - perfect for your special photographs! The Barn and grounds are fully licensed for ceremonies, with a capacity of 130 for a seated wedding breakfast and a total of 200 evening guests.
Harefield Barn, once described as 'barn chic', provides a fresh modern style with plenty of characterful features. Perfect whatever the weather - it's a truly inside/outside venue.
Versatility is key, with several different licensed indoor and outdoor spaces for 2 to 130, including our beautiful Clock House for outdoor ceremonies and The Tallet as an inside option standing by! With 5 beautiful churches within 3 miles, Harefield Barn also makes the perfect spot for a fabulous reception.
We also want to make sure you can relax and make the most of your special day, so our price includes includes hire of the Barn and grounds for the whole a full two days, so you have plenty of time to prepare and bring your own vision to life.
The Leveret Suite is a hugely popular with our brides. Furnished as a stylish boudoir, it has ample space for the bride and her party to prepare, with lots of light for hair and make-up; perfect for stunning ‘getting-ready’ photos. Here the couple, their attendants and family can have a fabulous relaxed morning together before the main event. It doubles as a charming ‘sitting room’ for couples to escape during their day, for more senior family members in the evening, or even a travel cot for the little ones!
Flexibility is key - although we ask you to choose from our extensive list of caterers to ensure your food and service are impeccable, we don’t tie you down to any other specific suppliers so you can create a truly bespoke wedding. And don't forget, we're there to help you every step of the way!
Ours is a small family business, so to keep the personal nature of what we offer, we limit the number of weddings we host each year so we can give each one the attention it deserves.

Absolutely! Our two day hire means that Harefield Barn is exclusively yours for the duration of your booking, giving you plenty of time to relax, prepare, and enjoy the day of a lifetime.
Yes we are - in fact we have no less than seven different licensed locations at the Barn so you can choose your favourite depending on the number of guests you have and the vibe of your day, and with new regulations - you can legally marry anywhere on a licensed premises!
Our stunning views provide the backdrop when you say 'I do' in The Clock House, our beautiful outdoor ceremony space. However, recent changes in legislation mean that you can choose anywhere within our grounds to exchange your vows, so if you would like to hold your ceremony under the beautiful lime tree or even in the wildflower meadow - the choice is yours!
We offer a lovely selection of wines from our own curated list. However, if you wish to bring your own, there is a corkage fee.
We are happy for you to use any of the wide selection of our preferred caterers, and may consider an alternative professional company by arrangement.
When you book Harefield Barn, it is exclusively yours for two full days! You will have the whole of the day before to prepare, and enjoy time with your family and friends, so on the day of your wedding you can truly relax and have fun.
We ask guests to leave by 12.30 am.
We just ask that live bands finish at 11 pm, and at that point we will close the external doors, but you're more than welcome to continue partying with recorded music.
Yes! As long as they are provided by a professional licensed company. There may be certain times of the year that we have to have a few restrictions on length and loudness, but you can still enjoy a fabulous display.
Confetti is a beautiful traditional part of your day and we are happy to let you have either fresh or dried petals for your confetti. We just ask that they are un-dyed, and I'm afraid confetti cannons are a no-no due to the damage they cause to local wildlife.
Unfortunately, our insurance doesn't allow naked flames, but we have a beautiful selection of battery operated wax candles for hire which give you the same effect.

There is plenty of local accommodation in the form of holiday cottages and Air B&B's, and as we are just a 10 minute taxi ride from Exeter or Crediton, accommodation is not a problem for guests.
We look after all the furniture moving on the day, both after your ceremony and the wedding breakfast to create your evening dance floor.
Dogs may be brought to an event, with restrictions, so if possible, why not arrange for a dog sitter to bring them for a 'guest appearance' for the photos?
Of course! We love it when couples bring their own ideas to create a completely unique day, and remember that you have the whole of the day before to prepare and bring those ideas to life.
We take care of all that for you! Once you and your guests have left, we gather up all your bits and pieces and leave them in one location ready for easy collection the next morning.
The average cost of hiring Harefield Barn is £7500, this will always be for a two day exclusive period.
Our Sustainability Commitments
We try to work as sustainably as possible where we can, which includes using electricity from an array of solar panels, and recycling waste, particularly glass, wherever possible. Alongside air hand-dryers, we also provide good old fashioned hand towels in the loos, which are washed and dried using our own spring water and electricity at the farm. We work hard to look after and maintain the building, contents and grounds at Harefield Barn to ensure everything looks great and doesn't need replacing often.
