Our Sustainability Commitments

With sustainability a key focus, the Delta Hotel by Marriott Colchester is proud to be a part of the local community. As a supporter of the Colchester Zoological Society and sponsor of the red panda habitat, they offer cute and furry red panda soft toys for sale at the hotel. All sales and profits generated from these go directly to the zoo. Commitment to sustainability extends beyond this partnership, supporting smaller businesses by sourcing local ingredients, recycling waste wherever possible and encouraging guests to do the same by providing colour coded bin liners, motion sensor LED lighting, recyclable bamboo key cards which control the power within the rooms by electric activation slots, avoiding single-use plastics, providing free filtered water to all residential guests and offering electric Tesla car chargers on-site. Hydration stations are located on each Hotel floor for guests use. Refillable amenities provided rather than individual miniatures. The Connect Responsibly program is designed to help planners embed sustainability into their events with the Hotel capable of furnishing couples access to detailed Impact Reports to measure the environmental impact of their events and select options to purchase carbon credits. All these initiatives have contributed to the success of achieving Green Key certification. This prestigious accolade is a leading standard for excellence within the tourism industry and highlights ongoing efforts to develop a responsible business that prioritises environmental impact.
