About Westonbirt House
Westonbirt House sits within a 210-acre estate in the Cotswolds, combining a Victorian mansion and formal gardens with spaces licensed for civil ceremonies and receptions. The house’s state rooms vary in scale and character, giving couples flexibility in how they arrange their day.
The Library has ornate gilded ceiling and silk-covered walls and is licensed for up to 120 guests, while the Great Hall, entered after a marble-floored Entrance Hall, accommodates larger gatherings with space for up to 150 guests and high ceilings above its ornamental features. A versatile Reading Room opens onto the Upper Terrace and lawns, and the Dining Room offers another option for seated meals.
Outside, terraces, lawns, the Italian Gardens and areas by the lake provide licensed locations for outdoor ceremonies, backdrops for photographs and places for guests to gather. Within the grounds is St Catherine’s Chapel dating to the 12th century, available for blessings. Ceremonies and receptions can be arranged around the estate in a way that reflects the couple’s choices.
Menus and drink packages are crafted by the in-house catering team, with couples invited to a menu and wine tasting before the wedding day. Use of the mansion’s rooms and gardens is exclusive to each couple on their wedding day, with the option to tailor the sequence of ceremony, reception, wedding breakfast and evening celebration around their preferences.

Wedding couples and their guests have exclusive use of the ground floor state rooms at Westonbirt House, the surrounding estate and landscaped gardens on the day of their wedding.
Westonbirt House is licensed for civil ceremonies both indoors (120 in The Library and 150 in The Great Hall) and at 3 beautiful outdoor locations, The Italian Garden, overlooking the Ha-Ha and on The Terraces.
We have 3 outdoor areas licensed for outdoor ceremonies (The Terraces, Italian Gardens & overlooking the Ha-Ha) all of which provide stunning backdrops for ceremonies of all sizes.
Corkage is charged at £12 per adult, which covers the drinks reception, wedding banquet and toast drinks.
For large, cultural weddings with traditional wedding banquets, couples can use their own catering team and we have extensive experience hosting cultural weddings at Westonbirt House
We always endeavour to give couples access to Westonbirt House the day before the wedding to decorate.
Receptions can run until midnight.
Due to it's fantastic location on a 210 acre countryside estate, there is no noise restriction at Westonbirt House for live music or evening entertainment.
Due to the surrounding farmland, nearby polo club and for the safety of the animals that graze areas of The Estate, fireworks are not permitted at Westonbirt House.
Natural wedding confetti (rice, dried petals and other biodegradable materials) can be enjoyed at outdoor locations around the house and on the estate.
Wedding banquet tables are an ideal place for candles to add a warm ambiance to your day. There is also a open fire in The Great Hall, and Westonbirt House is the perfect venue for a wedding at any time of year.
There is no overnight accommodation at Westonbirt House, however we have a room for the bridal party in which to relax and prepare for the day. This room is for the exclusive use of the bridal party throughout the day.
There is no overnight accommodation at Westonbirt House, but the bride and her party enjoy a private upstairs room for preparations and time with their photographer before the ceremony.
There is plenty of accommodation nearby, including The Hare & Hounds a traditional Cotswold Inn and a range of local options in Tetbury. We provide wedding couples with list of local accommodation providers.
