About Danson House
Designed by Sir Robert Taylor, the architect for the Bank of England, Danson House was built in 1766. The Grade I listed Georgian villa was originally created for Sir John Boyd and his wife Catherine, with interiors that feature rich symbolism celebrating love and marriage. In 1995, English Heritage identified the house as 'the most significant building at risk in London', which led to a decade of restoration work. The restored interior was officially reopened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2005.
