Unlike many Scottish castle wedding venues, you don't have to book the entire venue to enjoy your special day with us. Whether you choose a non-exclusive wedding or exclusive use of the castle, our experienced team will create a celebration that suits your vision, guest list and budget.
Arrive along our mile-long tree-lined driveway and discover a venue that feels wonderfully secluded while remaining close to Edinburgh city centre and Edinburgh Airport.
Exchange your vows outdoors on our beautiful South Lawn or inside our elegant State Rooms or light-filled Ballroom. After your ceremony, enjoy drinks and photographs in the picturesque grounds before sitting down to a seasonal wedding breakfast, expertly prepared by our talented in-house chefs.
For larger celebrations, our elegant marquee provides the perfect setting for dining and dancing beneath sparkling chandeliers and fairy lights. Absolutely! Melville Castle is an enchanting venue. Exclusive use will give you run of the grounds, the castle, and all 33 bedrooms. For the ultimate castle wedding experience, we recommend exclusive use! We offer exceptionally competitive prices for exclusive use weddings.
As a Scottish wedding venue, we don't actually require a license! In Scotland it is the individual (e.g. the registrar) who holds the license, as opposed to the venue. This means that you can get married anywhere (with the landowner's permission!) With that in mind, we have complete flexibility on where you hold your ceremony - in the castle, on the lawn, or in the surrounding grounds. We are also within easy reach of a number of churches.
Definitely! Outdoor weddings are available at Melville Castle. You can get married on the lawns or in the surrounding grounds.

We have our own in-house catering team who can create bespoke menus for each wedding. We do not have facilities for outside caterers, but you can get a taste for our menus and the wide range of options by downloading our Wedding Brochure on our website.

Yes, every bedroom in the castle has been beautifully refurbished, and there are a selection of suites available. Will you choose a suite with a giant copper tub for two? Or perhaps a 4 poster bedroom? It's all possible!

Definitely. Melville Castle is a very dog-friendly hotel, in fact we even serve Doggy Afternoon Tea! You are very welcome to invite your four-legged friends to your wedding.
Yes, Melville Castle is wheelchair accessible and has accessible rooms and facilities.
We can host up to 150 guests for an ceremony and wedding breakfast and then 200 in the evening, this includes use of our marquee. If the castle is to be used without marquee it is 70 guests and 100 in the evening.
