About The Story Museum

Housed across historic buildings that make up the museum, its first and second floor rooms include the Woodshed Theatre, the Magic Common Room, the Whispering Wood and the Link Room, each with capacities that vary according to layout and the number of guests.
Wedding hire at The Story Museum is typically dry hire. The venue hire fee covers use of the chosen spaces and basic furniture such as tables and chairs, and couples may bring additional furniture or decorations or arrange these through an external event company. The museum is licensed for alcohol and live entertainment, and its on-site café can provide food and refreshments, with external caterers also able to work with couples on the wedding breakfast.
Access for set up is generally available from 10:00 on the day of the event, with evening weddings usually starting once the museum closes to the public; specific early arrival or later departure times can be arranged in advance. Guests can explore the museum’s gallery spaces as part of the day if this is arranged with the Venue Hire Manager.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible, with step-free access to all floors via lifts that have audio announcements and Braille labelling.
