Standing proudly at the heart of the beautiful South Downs, Lewes Castle offers you and your guests a truly unique and romantic castle ruin for your wedding celebration. The unrivalled views of the Sussex countryside and historic medieval town of Lewes below makes Lewes Castle an unbeatable backdrop for your wedding and the perfect location for stunning photographs.

Built more than 900 hundred years ago as a Norman stronghold, its first owners were William de Warenne and his beloved wife Gundrada. Now we invite you too, to share in the castles romance and become a part of its never-ending story.

Under the glorious Sussex sky, brides make their way to the top of the Keep, replacing the traditional walk down the aisle with that of the zigzag steps. Ceremonies are held in the beautiful Pleasure Garden, where the bride and groom are married under the arch of the Medieval West Tower. An audience of up to eighty guests may share in your ceremony from under the shade of the lime tree and do not worry we can provide cover if it rains!

After the ceremony the wedding party descends to the lower Gun Garden where many couples choose to hold their own truly bespoke wedding receptions for up to hundred guests. What better way to celebrate your special day than at your very own fairy-tale castle?
