Types Of Ceremonies

Registration Office Ceremonies

Bride and groom wearing wedding rings

Suffolk registrars offer three types of ceremonies to take place at their offices. The choice is there for you and your partner to decide the level of personal or unique elements you'd wish to incorporate. Whether you'd like to write and read your own vows or have a ceremony with just two witnesses, Suffolk Registration has the options available for you.

Enhanced Ceremony

On Saturday afternoons, couples can indulge in an Enhanced Wedding Ceremony. This bespoke service (not available in Woodbridge) allows for your selection of legal wordings, ensuring your personality shines through in the proceedings. As well as the customary kiss and ring exchange, couples also have the freedom to choose their own musical accompaniment. The option to include bridesmaids, flower girls, and pageboys is available, so you can include your loved ones into your special day. While biodegradable confetti is available for most venues (excluding Bury St Edmunds), couples can infuse their ceremony with their own vows and readings, for a more intimate and meaningful ceremony. You even have the choice to extend your ceremony for ample time to savour each moment. Your registrar will have a planning meeting with you prior to the big day to ensure that every detail is tailored to the couple's preferences, for a truly unforgettable celebration. From £495, this ceremony is a no-brainer for those couples still wanting a simple ceremony but with more meaningful moments.

Traditional Ceremony

From £375, Suffolk Registration offers couples the opportunity to partake in a Traditional Wedding Ceremony. Similar to an Enhanced Ceremony, you receive a choice of legal wording, the classic kiss and ring exchange, the freedom to select your own music and the option to include bridesmaids.

You Plus Two

Only available at Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, and Lowestoft, the 'You Plus Two' ceremony is available on selected dates for those who are looking for a straightforward and efficient ceremony in the offices. This intimate affair is tailored for the couple and two witnesses only. With minimal legal wording and no music, the focus remains on fulfilling the necessary legal requirements. Designed to streamline the legal wedding process, this allows couples to officially tie the knot with ease and simplicity.

Approved Venue Weddings

Most of their venues offer excellent transport links to London, Cambridge, and the North, making Suffolk an ideal destination for you and your wedding guests.

Whether you envision a classic, timeless ceremony or a more unconventional celebration, there's a setting to match every dream wedding vision. With the freedom to write your own vows, include bespoke touches, or even opt for a fancy-dress themed wedding, you can truly put your own stamp on your celebrations. Weddings At Home/ Unlicensed Venue

When it comes to tying the knot, sometimes the most meaningful place is right at home or somewhere that holds special significance for you. Suffolk Registration has a two-part wedding option, where the legally binding marriage ceremony takes place at a Register Office, and then a Suffolk Registration Service celebrant will conduct a ceremony at your unlicensed venue. This ensures that your wedding can take place exactly where you want it, whilst still being legally binding. This approach offers couples the freedom to forego some of the formalities associated with traditional wedding venues, allowing for a more relaxed and personalised experience.

Outdoor wedding ceremony

Choosing to host your wedding at home or at an unlicensed venue can also be beneficial because it allows you to have your legal ceremony with a select few guests at the Register Office, and then a larger celebration with a bigger guest list. Couples can also focus on personalising their wedding to their heart's content, whether that means adding DIY decorations, incorporating meaningful touches, or simply enjoying the intimacy of celebrating in a familiar environment.
