Connie and Chris swapped their farmer overalls and wellies for the elegant wedding day they’d been dreaming of! They tied the knot at Rockbeare Manor, a sophisticated venue set against the picture-perfect backdrop of the Devon countryside. Find your country house wedding venue here!
The Venue
Connie knew she wanted the wedding to be the exact opposite of the couple’s daily lives as farmers; clean, white, elegant and stylish! The wedding venue also had to be within a certain distance of their farm as cows don’t take a day off, even for such a special day! The groom would have to milk all the cows and feed the calves the morning of the wedding. Luckily, the bride managed to find Rockbeare Manor, only 25 minutes away. It was the first and only venue Connie and Chris looked at, as it was absolutely perfect for them! The couple adored the grand white manor house, gorgeously nestled within idyllic acres of its own parkland.
The Fashion
The bride wore a gorgeous organza skirt ballgown with crystal embroidery by Morilee. Connie struggled to find her perfect dress, being more used to her old work clothes on the farm! Eventually, after trying on many dresses, she fell in love with a dress that was the complete opposite of what she thought she wanted! But it was the one that truly made her feel like a bride. The couple decided to go for pale and elegant rather than a distinct colour theme; simple yet sophisticated. So, the 5 bridesmaids wore stunning floor-length dusky pink, backless gowns while Chris and his groomsmen all wore navy blue three-piece suits.
The Day
The big day didn’t start off smoothly! Chris’ morning on the farm involved the parlour breaking down and a cow falling ill with heavy traffic and a cross-country detour adding to the drama after he was finally able to leave! Luckily, the groom made it with time to spare to fit in a quick game of snooker before the ceremony!
The couple’s luck quickly turned as glorious sunny weather allowed them to hold their wedding ceremony outside. As Connie walked down the aisle, she had quite an emotional moment; “I looked around at all our friends and family that had given up their time to spend the day with us, that’s when the tears came. I realised how lucky I was.”
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their loved ones gathered on the lawn for a glass of bubbles and some music from their live band. The mother of the bride made all the gorgeous bouquets with roses and thistle. The stunning table centrepieces were grand, yet affordable thanks to artificial flowers! The wedding breakfast was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. The raspberry crème brûlée for dessert was a definite highlight. The speeches were both emotional and hilarious as stories on how the bride and groom met got everyone laughing! The evening party began with the couple’s first dance to ‘Something Just Like This’ by Coldplay. As Connie says, “If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
