How working with me actually feels
The first conversation costs you nothing and commits you to nothing. We jump on Zoom, I learn a bit about you, you decide whether I'm the right fit. No pressure, no sales pitch.
Once you've booked, I send a questionnaire and we have a longer call to capture your story — how you met, the proposal, your families, the moments that made you laugh or cry. From that, I write a fully bespoke ceremony script from scratch and send a draft for you to read together. We refine it until it's exactly right — no extra charge for revisions.
On the day, I arrive long before guests do, set up, soundcheck with the venue and steady any nerves. Then I deliver the ceremony with warmth, structure and humour. Afterwards, you keep the printed script in a folder as a forever memento, alongside your signed commemorative wedding certificate.

A bit about me beyond the ceremonies ☺️
When I'm not creating ceremonies, I work as a Supporting Artist in films and TV — recent credits include Bank of Dave, Peaky Blinders, Victoria and The Confessions of Frannie Langton. I'm also the unlikely winner of Channel 4's Come Dine With Me. The rest of my time goes on my Kawasaki, or walks with Mabel my Spaniel and Freddie, our rescue Basset/Cocker cross.
Drop me a message and let's find a time for a chat. ❤

FAQs
A registrar legally marries you with a fixed, religion-free script at a council-licensed venue. A celebrant (me!) writes a fully personal ceremony — anywhere, any time, any words, religious or not — but doesn't carry legal powers. Most of my couples handle both: a quick 10-minute legal signing at the registry office a day or two before, then their real ceremony on the wedding day, the one that tells their story. Legal bit = admin. Celebrant ceremony = the wedding. ❤
A humanist celebrant works within a defined non-religious philosophy — no prayers, hymns or faith readings, ever. An independent celebrant (like me, FIC-trained) has no such rules. I can write you a fully secular ceremony, a deeply spiritual one, a religious one, an interfaith blend, or anything in between. Hymn alongside a Disney reading? Done. Neither route is legally binding, so couples do a short registry-office signing as well. Humanist = a philosophy. Independent = total freedom. ❤
My fee is £445 — the only number you'll see on your invoice. It covers everything: a free initial chat, all planning meetings, a fully bespoke script written from scratch, unlimited revisions, vow-writing help, printed readings, your keepsake script in a folder, commemorative certificate, ceremony props, handfasting & candle rituals, Bose PA system, travel within Yorkshire, and the ceremony itself. No tiers, no upgrades, no surprises. The fee you're quoted is the fee you pay. ❤
Yes — every word, written from scratch, just for you. After you book, I send a questionnaire and we have a longer call where I really dig into your story — how you met, the proposal, the people, the in-jokes, the songs. From that, I write a fully bespoke ceremony script from a blank page (never a template), send you a draft, and we refine it together with unlimited revisions until every word feels right. Vow-writing help is included too — for you, with you, or by you. ❤
Absolutely! Some couples want me to write everything; others want to write their own vows, a reading, or even a section of the ceremony — both are perfect. If you'd like to write your own vows, I'll give you a structure, share examples, and gently guide you so the tone matches the rest of the ceremony. If you'd rather write more (a personal moment, a tribute, your own reading), we'll weave it in seamlessly. It's your day, your story, your words. I'm here to make sure it flows beautifully. ❤
Honestly — no. A celebrant ceremony has zero legal requirements (the legal bit happens separately at the registry office), so you can include anything you like and skip anything you don't. That said, most ceremonies tend to include a welcome, your story, one or two readings, vows or promises, a ring exchange (if you want one), a pronouncement, and the signing of your commemorative certificate. Symbolic rituals like handfasting are popular optional extras. Your ceremony, your rules. ❤
Absolutely, wholeheartedly, joyfully — yes.LGBTQ+ couples have always been welcome here, and same-sex weddings are some of the most joyful ceremonies I've had the privilege to deliver. There's no separate "version" of my service — you'll get the same fully bespoke ceremony, written from a blank page around your story, your love, your families and your way of doing things. If you want a proudly out-and-loud celebration, brilliant. If you'd prefer quiet and intimate, equally brilliant. ❤
Yes — and they're some of my favourite ceremonies to write. One of the real strengths of being an independent celebrant (rather than a humanist or a registrar) is that I can blend traditions from any faith — or no faith — into a single, cohesive ceremony. Christian + Hindu, Jewish + Muslim, Catholic + agnostic, Sikh + secular — I've worked with couples weaving readings, prayers, blessings, music and rituals from both backgrounds, in a way that honours both families. ❤
es — and as many times as you like! Every booking includes an initial free chat (Zoom or coffee), a longer story-gathering call once you've booked, and unlimited follow-ups by Zoom or in person — no time cap and no extra charge. We'll be in regular touch throughout the planning, and I'll always be a phone call or message away. For couples local to North Yorkshire, I'm happy to meet face-to-face. For couples further afield, Zoom works beautifully — I've planned dozens of ceremonies that way. ❤
Honestly, any notice is fine — I've been booked 18 months out, and I've also stepped in with just a few weeks' notice when a couple's plans changed. Most of my couples book somewhere between 6 and 12 months ahead, especially for popular venues and Saturday dates in summer. If your date is more than a year away, brilliant — we've got plenty of time to plan. If it's just around the corner, get in touch anyway — if I'm free, I'll make it happen. Just drop me a message with your date. ❤
No — and that's worth explaining. In England and Wales, only a registrar (or, in certain religious settings, a person of authorised religion) can legally marry you or register a civil partnership. Independent celebrants don't carry that legal power. The simple workaround: most of my couples pop into the registry office a day or two before for a short, low-key signing — the legal admin done in 10 minutes — then have their real ceremony with me on the wedding day. ❤
Our Sustainability Commitments
A few honest sustainable practices Celebrancy has a smaller environmental footprint than many parts of the wedding industry, but here's where I try to keep the impact light: ❤ Digital-first planning. Almost all of our meetings, calls and conversations happen on Zoom — saving the mileage of repeated drives to and from your home or venue. ❤ Reusable ceremony props. My unity candlesticks, loving cup, handfasting ribbons, sand ceremony vases and other props are reused at every ceremony, not bought new for each wedding. (The candles themselves I do replace, naturally.) ❤ Recycled and responsibly sourced print. The keepsake script you take home, the wedding certificate you sign, and all the readings printed for the day are produced on recycled or FSC-certified paper. Small contributions in the bigger picture of a wedding day — but if it matters to you, it matters to me. ❤
