As a celebrant, I craft a completely personalised ceremony truly celebrating who you are as a couple. You can include anything that feels meaningful and brings your love story to life! A registrar, on the other hand, is a council employee who carries out the legal side of your marriage. They must follow a set script with specific legal wording. Ceremonies must take place in licensed venues and the level of personalisation is extremely limited compared to a celebrant-led ceremony.

An independent celebrant can create any kind of ceremony you want, religious, spiritual, symbolic, or completely non-religious. It’s all about what suits you as a couple. A humanist celebrant creates ceremonies that are strictly non-religious and follow humanist belief principles. In short: independent = total freedom, humanist = non-religious following humanist beliefs.

After getting to know you both, I’ll create a draft ceremony script for you to review. Some couples tweak a few words, others prefer bigger changes, either way, it’s your ceremony. I’ll revise the script until you’re completely happy.

No there’s nothing that has to be included in your ceremony. It’s completely your day! And if there’s something especially meaningful to you both, then of course we’ll make sure it’s woven into the ceremony in a way that feels just right.

Absolutely, I 100% cater for LGBTQ+ weddings. Every couple’s story is unique, and every wedding is special. I’m always honoured to celebrate the connection between two people and to create a ceremony that reflects who you are together.

We’ll start planning your ceremony virtually, unless you’re local, then we can meet for a cuppa! My fee includes a rehearsal, usually a few weeks before your ceremony but the day before if extensive travel is needed. Meeting in person before the big day is always lovely, helping to ease nerves and strengthen our connection.
