About Ethica Diamonds
Ethica Diamonds is a Truro-based sustainable jewellery business founded in 2010. The founder Elaine Reffell now runs the business alongside her daughter Emily Reffell and a small team of eight. Elaine founded the company after learning about the harsh realities of how many diamonds are sourced. Elaine said: “We spent the first 5 years educating and teaching people that there is a kinder way of purchasing jewellery that is genuinely meaningful." The business aims to create an 'earth-friendly' option for people who want a special piece of jewellery to wear.
The Ratings
On the 10th of March 2023 The Good Shopping Guide published its rankings on 18 brands in the jewellery sector for the first time ever. The Good Shopping Guide was the original ethical creditation to give consumers insight and the scores out of 100 are based on an assessment of the company’s practices towards the environment, animals and people. Ethica Diamonds was announced as the highest scorer in The Good Shopping Guide’s rankings for the jewellery sector with a score of 100 beating the likes of Tiffany & Co, Pandora, and Michael Kors who all received the low ethical scores. Interestingly Tiffany & Co came lowest scoring just 33. Ethica Diamonds took the top spot alongside Ingle & Rhode.
