Les Etangs de Corot Spa - Paris

Les Etangs de Corot is part of the Conde Nast 2010 Award Winning Caudalie chain. Situated just a stone's throw from Paris this new spa and hotel has maintained all the calm and charm of a traditional rustic French retreat with an emphasis on relaxation and romance.

Highly recommended for couples wanting a quick relaxation and pampering break together either before the wedding, or at the start of the honeymoon.

Catch an after-work Eurostar from St Pancras and you will arrive in time for dinner. The next morning enjoy a traditional French breakfast, relax in the spa, enjoy a treatment and head to Paris for an afternoon's sightseeing or shopping before catching an evening train back to London.

The spa offers a full range of body and facial treatments including many treatments unique to the Caudalie brand.  Alongside more commonly found treatments you can choose to be  plunged into a barrel bath with either a red vine bath or a grape marc bath, perhaps enjoy a merlot wrap and then finish with a 4-hand exhilarating sculpting massage. Visitors to the spa also have full access to the spa's jacuzzi, steam room and relaxation room.

Perfect for a romantic break, Les Etangs de Corot is a 15 - 20 minute taxi ride from the Eurostar's Gare de Nord. The hotel has a lovely French feel to it, with simple traditional decor, plenty of exposed beams and brickwork, and all the mod cons you could want. As a very nice touch, the bathrooms come equipped with a wide range of miniatures from the Caudalie spa range fro you to try.

The bar area is furnished with sumptuous leather chairs, jars of sweets, and an unusual wall made entirely from bottles, and leads to the formal gourmet restaurant (open Tuesdays to Sundays) and the quaint "Cafe des Artistes". As the gourmet restaurant was closed when we visited we tried the Cafe des Artistes and were not disappointed by the exceptional quality of the traditional French fare. Adjacent to the Cafe des Artists is an out door terrace for dining in warm weather, and a lounge area with heavy wooden tables and deep leather chairs for those who would prefer to dine in a more relaxed fashion.

As with Les Sources de Caudalie, guests come here primarily for the spa, which is situated on the lower ground floor of the hotel. The spa is centred round a covered open-air hydrotherapy bath; on the day we visited we could relax in the hot bubbling water and watch the snow fall around us. There are 7 treatment rooms, each one spacious, modern and well equipped. The treatments we tried were divine, and carried out by well trained, professional, cheerful therapists, followed by a refreshing drink in a relaxation area overlooking the lake. There is a further relaxation room with a hammam and rain shower. The interior design and use of colour throughout the spa was inspiring, and the general feeling was one of quiet relaxation. To finish the experience, the changing rooms were voted the best we have visited.
