Sarah and Shankar had to squeeze wedding preparations into already hectic lives, but the day itself proved the perfect opportunity to relax with friends and family.
Combine the need for two ceremonies (one Hindu, one civil) with two high pressured jobs involving lots of travel abroad, and you may expect the result to be a very stressed bride and groom. But happily, in the case of Sarah and Shankar, who married at the Pittville Pump rooms in Cheltenham last year, nothing could be further from the truth.
Sarah laughs when she remembers the pre-wedding dinner held in Cheltenham the evening before their glamorous civil ceremony and reception: ‘Everyone was expecting us to be very stressed, but we were completely relaxed. Our caterers thought we were one of the most relaxed couples they’d met!’
‘Not only was The Pump Rooms one of the few venues which could house a civil ceremony guest list of 100, it also had wonderfully helpful caterers. They were fantastic, really professional, and had lots of recommendations for other high quality suppliers. I needed companies who were responsive by phone or email. Being based in London – and abroad several times a month - meant I couldn’t just pop over to Cheltenham for a chat to sort out details – it all had to be done remotely.’
