About The Reid Rooms
Located in picturesque Essex countryside, The Reid Rooms is a wonderful venue for all seasons, comprising of handsome weather-boarded barns surrounding a gorgeous courtyard. Set against a stunning rural backdrop, with beautiful gardens, indoor and outdoor ceremony locations and on-site accommodation, it's the perfect setting for your wedding day. We're flexible too, allowing you to bring in any supplier of your choice, including caterers - your day will truly reflect you as a couple.
Licensed for civil ceremonies, held either in the stunning beamed Ceremony Room or outside at The Meadow Pavilion or Garden Pavilion during the summer months. The tranquil Garden Pavilion is located on the lawns of our moated Farmhouse accommodation and The Meadow Pavilion is set in a glorious open field a few minutes drive away - your guests are transported there by tractor and trailer - a wonderful feature that guests will never forget!
We can offer field hire for those of you looking for a festival-style wedding, with or without a licensed ceremony location. Three days of hire and flexibility to bring in marquees/tipis for your dream outdoor festival set up.
You may bring in any supplier of choice, including caterers, and provide your own wine, prosecco and Champagne for the day with no corkage charge. There is a fantastic package option too. We run a fully staffed licensed bar for the evening reception.
The venue can accommodate small, intimate weddings or more extravagant celebrations of up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast. We can accommodate up to 200 for the evening reception.

"Accessed via a tree lined private driveway off Marks Hall Lane, The Reid Rooms consists of a farmhouse, used for guest accommodation, and rustic wood-clad buildings, with the main barn venue set around a courtyard, with high level balconies and overflowing baskets of flowers giving a really pretty effect. If I am to be honest, I found the layout a little muddled on first impressions, but it gives a lovely cosy feel that couples love. For summer weddings, the venue comes into its own with a tractor and trailer taking guests down to the meadow ceremony gazebos."

Yes, hire is exclusive. The venue is available from 9.00 am until 12.00 am when music and bar cease with everyone to vacate by 12.30 am.
We have three licensed areas; the beamed indoor Ceremony Room, the tranquil Garden Pavilion on the Farmhouse lawn and picturesque Meadow Pavilion set in open fields.
Yes, two outdoor locations. One on the lawns at the venue and one in a meadow a short drive away and guests are transported by tractor and trailer.
You may bring in your own drinks for the reception and wedding breakfast with no corkage charge. We run a fully licensed staffed bar for the evening reception.
Yes, you may bring in any caterer of your choice. We have a list of preferred suppliers and a package option available for those who would like assistance in finding a caterer.
Venue is available from 9.00 am for you to start decorating. Earlier access times can be arranged if required.
Music and bar finish at 12 midnight with everyone to vacate the venue by 12.30 am.
We have a limit of 89 decibels. No amplified music outside after 7.00 pm.
Fireworks are only permitted by prior arrangement.
We allow biodegradable confetti on any of our grass areas (none inside or on the gravel courtyard).
Candles are allowed in deep tealight holders, lanterns or hurricane lamps (strictly no exposed flames).
We have on-site accommodation which includes a Bridal Suite.
Marks Hall Farmhouse is our wonderful Grade II listed accommodation for up to 20 guests in 8 bedrooms, available to hire in whole or part.
We are well located for Chelmsford, Bishop's Stortford, Dunmow, Harlow and Stansted, all of which have a range of hotels. There are Airbnb properties in the local villages.
