Our Sustainability Commitments

Hospitality in general creates a mountain of waste, and it is our mission to keep our contribution to that mountain as small as possible. Here are a few of the things we are doing to make a little difference: We forage from our land – fruit, veg, herbs & nuts – all used in bar and kitchen creations. We compost all our fruit and garden waste. We work with Grundon to recycle all our glass, cardboard, cans and food waste. We champion British sparkling wine and buy from local Hampshire based vineyard Coates and Seely. Our bars are plastic free. We use wheat stalk straws. Our napkins are made from 100% recycled materials and are fully compostable. 40% of our soft drinks are in cans as it has a 36% smaller carbon impact than bottles. We buy our beer from local breweries. Our coffee bags are 100% compostable and help fund women’s education in Africa. We support a native species planting scheme. We encourage car sharing and group travel to and from our venue. We encourage our beautiful rare breed sheep to do the mowing. We hire locally where possible to reduce travel and support our community. We serve sustainably sourced water. We use handblown Hampshire glassware where possible . We stock refillable toiletries in our accommodation. We have replaced and renewed all of the insulation in all of our buildings to reduce the need for heating and cooling. We use vintage and pre-owned furniture as much as possible. Our vodka is supplied in recyclable pouches rather than bottles to reduce glass recycling - and for every one we buy, we get a native sapling to plant right here on the farm. Our gin bottles are refilled by our distillery. We offer an extra recycling scheme to dispose of single use event waste responsibly.
