About Ashridge House

Ashridge House sits within a historic estate in Hertfordshire and occupies a former royal residence surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens. Couples plan their day across a variety of heritage rooms and outdoor settings, with historic halls and garden areas available for civil ceremonies, drinks receptions, wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations.

The main house and its interconnecting historic spaces are offered as part of signature wedding options, while a separate setting within the grounds, Monks Barn, can be chosen for a more relaxed celebration. Another tailored option supports cultural weddings with flexible use of spaces and trusted specialist suppliers. Throughout the planning process, a dedicated wedding team works with couples to shape how they want each element of their day to unfold. Dining is handled by the venue’s in-house team, with menus built around seasonal, locally sourced produce. Accommodation for wedding parties and guests is available on site, with a mix of bedroom types and a Honeymoon Suite among the rooms. Beyond the day itself, the grounds and gardens extend the sense of place, offering varied backdrops at different points in the schedule. Ashridge House is positioned within easy reach of London yet set within its own heritage landscape, allowing couples and their guests to remain close by before and after the wedding day.

FAQs

Wedding couples will have exclusive use of their function rooms for their special day.

Ashridge House has a number of licensed rooms for civil ceremonies for small weddings from 20 guests up until grand weddings of 170 guests. There are lots of beautiful heritage rooms to choose from!

Ashridge House is fortunate to have one licensed outside area for civil ceremonies. Couples can exchange vows on the South Terrace whilst overlooking the private gardens of the estate.

Our talented team of executive chefs offer an exciting range of menus and will cater for all dietary requirements; please do let us know if you have a particular theme or menu in mind.

Both music and bar close at midnight, however if the couple decide for an optional upgrade to continue celebrating until 1am there is an additional bar extension fee.

For indoor entertainment there are no noise restrictions, however because the House is located in a rural area outdoor entertainment is limited and options can be discussed with your wedding co-ordinator.

Both House and grounds are listed at Ashridge House, therefore we work with one licensed Firework display company who work with couples on designing their own firework display to wow their wedding guests. Fireworks can be viewed from the South Terrace and because of local residents we kindly ask couples to have their fireworks completed by 9pm.

Confetti is allowed, however confetti can only be thrown inside the venue and must be bio-degradable. Our wedding coordinators can recommend some great suppliers for confetti.

Because Ashridge House is a listed venue no candles are allowed, including lanterns.

Ashridge House has over 100 ensuite bedrooms, and 11 of these are the Brownlow Lodges which are used mainly by the principal wedding party. The couple tends to stay onsite in one of Brownlow Lodges where they can then enjoy a farewell breakfast in the Main House with friends and family the next morning.

There are 11 Lodges & 179 En-suite bedrooms at Ashridge House.

Weddings here can be intimate or extravagant, a typical wedding cost ranges from: £19,710 - £24,660
