About The Earlham

We offer exclusive use of the whole venue, including the pub, gardens and parking- and have space for up to 160 guests inside the main pub, which spreads across 4 different areas- as well as ample garden space with additional seating and a sheltered, heated smoking area. We offer a range of on site catering or alternatively, external catering is permitted. We are a venue in the heart of Norwich and a big part of the local community- perfect for those more laid back, relaxed wedding receptions!

We are a pub based in the heart of the Golden Triangle in Norwich, Norfolk run by Rose Hanison, a publican for 20+ years and owner of the neighbouring Black Horse pub also. After closing The Earlham to the public in early 2024, to reopen as a private hire/function space only, the weddings and events have really taken off!

We pride ourselves on offering bespoke packages to suit every couple and their style, wants and needs. Specialising in relaxed and laid back wedding receptions has offered up a new, unique venue space in the city centre for couples to celebrate in style, without all the formalities of a full day celebration.

As an exclusive hire venue, you and your guests will get the use of the whole pub space, large garden area and parking. There are private toilets with baby changing facilities; a fully stocked and staffed bar; a sheltered, heated smoking area; outdoor seating and heating in the winter months, making the venue ideal for any time of year.

We have a dedicated Events Chef who has put together menus for all types of wedding- from festival style BBQ menus and buffets to pizza & fried chicken or large canapes. Alternatively, a menu can be tailor made for you to match any theme, style or culture. Another option is self-catering, where you can hire your own licensed, insured and registered catering vans to serve food!

Conveniently located just a 20 minute walk/10 minute drive from Norwich Castle Registry Office or a 5 minute walk from the Roman Catholic Cathedral, we are in a prime spot to host your post wedding celebrations! There are also a number of churches locally as well for your ceremony if preferred.

Although we have no on site accommodation, there are plenty of local hotels within walking distance for anyone needing somewhere to stay overnight. There is a small car park on site, with spaces for 10 cars maximum (depending on if the car park is being used for catering services)- no vehicles can be left overnight

Yes- as we offer a fully stocked and staffed bar, with the capability of sourcing most stock ourselves, we do charge corkage for any alcohol brought in separately.

Yes! We have space in the main car park for catering vans to park, set up and serve the food. The caterers must be licensed, registered and insured accordingly.

Access can be available from 9am on the day, depending on if there have been any events the night before- always check with the Events Manager to confirm exact access times.

Last orders are called at 11:30pm, with guests to leave by midnight at the latest

Whilst you are welcome to have a live band, they must operate a sound check on the day and have the volume level checked by a member of management so we can ensure this is a respectable level for our neighbours. All live music must stop at 11:30pm at the latest

No- due to our location in the city centre, fireworks are not permitted. However, sparklers and smoke cannons are permitted outside of the venue for photo opportunites.

Confetti is permitted outside the venue only and must be biodegradable

Yes, candles are allowed, as long as they are in a container taller than the flame- I.E- tealight in a tealight holder
