About Notley Abbey
Notley Abbey is an exquisite country house wedding venue on the Buckinghamshire / Oxfordshire border, close to Thame and Aylesbury. Notley Abbey is licensed for civil ceremonies and is entirely and exclusively yours for your whole day.
Notley Abbey is an exclusive-use historic wedding venue on the Buckinghamshire-Oxfordshire Border. Drive up the tree-lined driveway until it appears - a 13th-century abbey with secluded riverside grounds and centuries of history in its walls.
The Abbott's Hall is steeped in history. Intimate and romantic, it's perfect for ceremonies of up to 110. If you've always imagined saying your vows outdoors, the Walled Garden offers a picture-perfect English setting.
For larger celebrations, the Monks' Refectory blends centuries of history with modern elegance, accommodating up to 164 for your ceremony or wedding breakfast, and up to 250 for your evening reception.
After the last dance, retire to the Notley Suite while your nearest and dearest retreat to one of nine beautiful guest bedrooms. The following morning, gather for a relaxed breakfast together.
Exceptional food is at the heart of celebrations at Notley Abbey. Harper Kitchens is led by Executive Chef Lionel Jouanet, who previously worked at The Dorchester, creating menus with a focus on flavour and seasonality. Your wedding includes the Harper Tasting Experience: a chef's selection of starters, mains and desserts, alongside a range of drinks, so you can make the perfect choices for your day.
We believe your wedding should feel wonderfully personal. You'll have your own online wedding planner, where you can manage details, track decisions, and keep everything in one place. You'll also have dedicated support from our in-house planning team, with meetings included throughout your journey from booking to the big day.
Notley Abbey is part of Harper Weddings, a family-owned company that also runs Botleys Mansion in Surrey and Cain Manor on the Surrey-Hampshire border.

Our Sustainability Commitments
When it comes to sustainability, we have made some real green initiatives over the years as we strive to be an eco-friendly wedding venue, without compromising on style and taste (some you won’t even notice the difference!). The chandeliers hung across our venues use LED bulbs, that not only create more energy efficient light, but a warm romantic glow that fills the entire room while you say your “I do’s” and/or host your wedding breakfast. The selected bulbs are long lasting and more durable, in comparison to alternatives, naturally creating less waste. Where possible our menus are sourced from local suppliers, effortlessly reducing our carbon footprint, including meat, poultry, dairy products, bread, fruit, and vegetables. The extensive list allows the in-house chefs to lovingly prepare most dishes using locally sourced produce, from canapés to roast dinners, down to the garnish used in drinks. Reusable, branded glass bottles are placed on the wedding breakfast tables, filled with our in-house still and sparkling water, reducing the use of plastic for every wedding held. An impact that may seem small, but quickly adds up with the number of weddings hosted each year. Waste from the events is split and collected as general waste, recyclable waste, and food waste, meaning the amount sent to landfill is as minimal as possible. The grounds across our venue are home to an array of plants and wildlife, and well maintained by a team of gardeners. Any fallen trees are cut into logs and stored to use in the open fires around the venues, or broken down into chippings, giving them a new use. The flowers beds are then scattered with wood chip, not only for an attractive soil cover (these are luxury wedding venues after all), but to provide a natural form of insulation, help conserve moisture and support growth.
