Yes, we offer exclusive-use options for your wedding. You can choose full exclusive use of the hotel, including all 54 bedrooms and our event spaces, or exclusive use of the Beaulieu Suite, which has its own private wing of the hotel, dedicated bar and multiple spaces for your celebration. We only ever host one wedding per day, so your wedding will always have our full attention.

Yes, Balmer Lawn is licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships for up to 140 guests. You can choose from a selection of indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces.

Yes, our Sylvan Pavilion is licensed for outdoor civil ceremonies for up to 140 guests. Set within the hotel grounds, it offers a beautiful woodland setting for your ceremony, with heating, lighting and a PA system included. If the weather isn’t on your side, we can also arrange your ceremony indoors.

Yes, we do charge corkage on wine and other drinks brought in for an event. The corkage charge varies depending on the type and quantity of drinks you’d like to bring, so we can confirm the cost based on your requirements.

We don’t allow external caterers, as all wedding catering is provided by our in-house kitchen team. However, we’re happy to accommodate additional foodie touches and can work with you to incorporate these into your day.

You can drop off your decorations at the hotel at any point in the lead-up to your wedding, and our team will set everything up for you. If you would like to do some of the set-up yourselves, we may also be able to arrange access to the venue the day before but this is subject to availability.

Reception finish times depend on the event space you choose. In the Beaulieu Suite, receptions finish at midnight, with the option to extend to 1am subject to General Manager approval. For events in spaces situated at the front of the hotel beneath the bedrooms, the usual curfew is 10pm, although this can be extended to 11pm when all of the bedrooms above are booked by your wedding party.

There are no additional noise restrictions for live music, other than the reception finish times for your chosen event space. All music must be indoors after 10pm. We just ask that live musicians provide valid Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) certificates before the wedding.

Fireworks aren’t permitted at Balmer Lawn, as we’re mindful of protecting the surrounding New Forest and its wildlife. There are still plenty of ways to create a memorable moment, though – laser and drone shows are welcome, and sparklers can also be enjoyed as part of your celebrations.

Yes, confetti is welcome, as long as it is 100% biodegradable. We love seeing couples make this part of their day their own, while helping to protect the surrounding New Forest and wildlife.

Yes, candles are permitted and can be a lovely way to add warmth and atmosphere to your wedding. We just ask that they are used safely and responsibly throughout the day.

The newlyweds receive a complimentary stay in one of our luxury bedrooms on the night of their wedding. You can also choose to stay the night before, giving you a beautiful space to get ready on the morning of your wedding, with additional bedrooms available for your bridal party if you’d like to stay together.

With 54 bedrooms at Balmer Lawn, we’re able to accommodate many of your wedding guests on site, and reduced accommodation rates may be available for your wedding party. If you have more guests than we can accommodate, there are also a range of hotels, guest houses and campsites nearby, giving your guests plenty of options within the local area.
