Weddings produce big carbon footprints and with many couples now becoming more aware of the impact their celebrations could have on the planet, it isn't surprising to hear that many are now choosing their wedding venue and suppliers based on the eco-credentials of the business. The wedding venues featured on this page have all been recognised for their commitment to being more sustainable and eco-friendly.

What credentials do these wedding venues have?

We want to help couples searching for venues that are making an important effort to be more sustainable. Here we identify venues where one or more of the following are true:

  • They are members of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance (SWA)
  • They have received SWA accreditation
  • They are a B-Corp
  • They have received an environmental or sustainability standard or award, such as the Green Tourism Award
  • They have a clear sustainability policy and ongoing efforts in place to be more eco-friendly in their practices.

Our ongoing work with the Sustainable Wedding Alliance helps us to bring you recommendations for sustainable, eco-friendly wedding venues and suppliers in the UK.

Tips for planning an eco-friendly wedding

From outdoor venues to stunning barns, the range of venues that are doing their most for the environment is great and by choosing an eco-friendly wedding venue, you are helping to implement a good impact from the start. For more tips on planning more sustainable wedding, listen to our podcast featuring Michelle, founder of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance.

Guides for Brides are not an auditing body. We strive to make sure the venues here are suitable and have the right credentials to be featured. We highly recommend you research them in more detail and ask any important questions you might have to be sure of their sustainability policies and eco-credentials before you book. If you have any feedback or feel that there is a venue missing from this page, please contact info@guidesforbrides.co.uk.
