You've made a great choice to get married in Merseyside . Long gone are the days of flimsy party tents and tacky decorations - these days, marquees are a seriously stylish wedding venue option. They can hold any sized wedding, from a small family gathering to huge receptions of over 500 guests. If you're hoping to have a small, intimate ceremony in your chosen venue in Merseyside but wish to invite lots more guests for the reception, marquee venues are ideal for you, as lots of smaller venues tend to offer space for a marquee reception outside. It may be that your venue has a permanent marquee on their grounds, or there’s simply space for you to choose your own to hire. In this case, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from in Merseyside . Will you hire a classic English marquee with roll up sides, or maybe a festival-style yurt or tipi? Often, you will be able to personalise the marquee with your choice of floor, colour themed decor and dance floor.

You will often find orangery's in manor houses and hotels. They will give you that outdoor feeling without having to be outside, you will get picturesque views right from your seat. Choosing an orangery will give you beautiful natural day light, along with views of the night stars in the evening.

Having your wedding reception in a marquee venue is the perfect choice if:

  • Space for lots of guests is needed
  • You want to marry in a outdoor space, such as a garden or woodland
  • You want to add your own stamp to the venue you're getting married in
  • If the weather is too cold, wet or windy, you have a back up plan to get married inside

Orangery wedding venues are perfect for you if;

  • Wanting outside views without having to be outside
  • An open space for your guests to enjoy the atmosphere

Orangery & Marquee Weddings in Merseyside FAQ's

Will my wedding venue put up my marquee for me?

When it comes to what's included in the price when booking a marquee wedding venue, you will need to speak with the wedding coordinator at that venue. This is because they all differ in what they offer. In some cases, the venue will only charge you for the hire of the grounds, and then you’ll have to arrange the marquee separately with a marquee hire company. Check with your wedding venue to see if they have any recommended marquee suppliers that you have to use before looking into your own.In other cases, your wedding venue in Merseyside may have a permanent marquee in the grounds, or one that is in use throughout the summer month, for example. This may be a simpler choice if you don’t want to arrange your wedding marquee directly. You may want to double check with your venue what the cost will be for setting up the marquee if they have their own one.

Am I able to have my wedding in a marquee in winter?

If you're getting married in one of the winter months, this is still an option! The difference is that you won’t be able to roll the sides of the tent up (which is generally an option in the warmer months), and that you’ll have to provide extra heating for your guests to keep your marquee warm. Getting married at a marquee wedding venue in winter gives you the option to decorate it how you wish and make it as wintery as possible. Adding fair lights and lanterns is one of many ideas.

What if the weather is bad?

Most marquees in Merseyside should be able to withstand wind and rain. However, you will want a second plan for if there's storms on your wedding day. It's likely most venues will have an indoor area for you to have your wedding reception. Discuss your wet weather plan with your wedding venue to ensure you’re prepared for any poor weather conditions.

Can we have a civil ceremony in a marquee in Merseyside ?

Even in marquees that are permanent throughout the whole year, it's law that you can't have your civil ceremony in a marquee as it needs to be in a permanent and fixed structure to be legal. One way to get around this is to have your ceremony over the threshold of a doorway. This way, your guests can be seated in the marquee while you are technically indoors. Alternatively, hold your wedding ceremony in another licensed part of your wedding venue before moving into your marquee for the reception.

Can we have a civil ceremony in an orangery?

If the venue has licensed the orangery for civil ceremonies, you are able to have a beautiful ceremony in there. You will have incoming natural lighting and views of stunning grounds and gardens for your wedding photographs.

What’s the best way to decorate a marquee or orangery?

It's so easy to add your personality to your wedding venue when getting married in a marquee. This is because you start with a blank canvas so can decorate the space however you wish. Hanging decorations such as bunting, paper lanterns and pom poms are very visually effective in marquees. Lighting options such as fairy lights and chandeliers can also help set the mood for your evening reception. You will want some decor for the tables. In a marquee, it's best to go for more extravegent centre pieces to fill up the large space available. You could go for a tall vase with flowers in to match your theme. Orangery's are a great space to decorate, you can apply any theme to it. You can use the views as part of the decor and create a stunning space for your wedding.
